Carotid-IMT Ultrasound

C-IMT is an ultrasound measurement of the thickness of the interior wall of the carotid arteries that is proven to independently predict risk for heart attack and stroke. One new cardiovascular test received a higher level of recommendation than following widely-used tests:

  • Stress Echocardiography
  • Exercise ECG
  • Resting Echocardiography
  • Advanced Lipoprotein Analysis, including Lp(a)
  • C-Reactive Protein
  • Hemoglobin A1c
  • Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2)
  • Genotype Testing

C-IMT outperformed them all. Your patients deserve the best!

Echocardiogram

A complete ultrasound examination of the heart that takes approximately 30 minutes. This noninvasive technique affords unique insight into cardiac structure and function. High frequency sound waves are used to visualize the contours, movements, and dimensions of cardiac structures, as well as flow patterns within the heart.

Ankle Brachial Index

A noninvasive test to determine the presence of peripheral artery disease that takes approximately 30 minutes. Blood pressures of the extremities are taken, and then Doppler ultrasound is used to find restricted blood flow or blockages in the dorsalis pedis, the posterior tibia, and the brachial arteries.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening

An ultrasound of the abdominal aorta to detect aneurysms that takes approximately 15 minutes. The presence of atherosclerotic plaque will also be noted. This test is especially necessary for smokers, the obese, and others with cardiovascular risk factors.

Thyroid Ultrasound Examination

Ultrasound examination of the thyroid to evaluate the presence of abnormalities to help detect possible neoplasm, thyroiditis, or tumor.
